Hello, thank you for visiting Light Heart Productions. It's a place where we hope to shine a light on all kinds of subjects and tell stories with great heart. I'm Nicola and I have 20 years experience in producing programmes for BBC Radio 4 (including Soul Music, The Untold, Open Country and more) and BBC Asian Network (Sony Award Winning Asian Network Reports News Features). I pride myself on developing ideas, gaining the trust of those I work with and delivering powerful audio to a high technical standard. I love what I do.


I work on projects at all stages of development, and I'm always happy to collaborate on productions.

Award winning Radio Producer (Sony Award, Jerusalem Awards) with 20 years experience producing features and documentaries for BBC Radio 4 and the BBC Asian Network, demonstrating a strong track record in personal story programmes and gaining new commissions.

Producer for personal commissions including Archive on 4 'Here's Looking at You Parents' presented by Josie Long and Jonny Donahoe, Science Documentary ‘Is Ignorance Bliss?’ presented by Sathnam Sanghera. Producer and part of development team for BBC Radio 4’s new personal stories series ‘The Untold’.


2008-2012

BBC Birmingham Radio 4 & The BBC Asian Network  Regular producer for BBC Asian Network’s Sony Award Winning ‘Asian Network Reports’ News Documentary Series. Regular producer for BBC Radio 4’s ‘Soul Music’, ‘Open Country’, ‘On Your Farm’, ‘Between Ourselves’- interview series presented by Olivier O’Leary.’Ramblings’ - walking series presented by Clare Balding. 

'Costing the Earth’ - environmental series presented by Tom Heap, ‘Farming Today’ - daily rural news programme. Won commissions for and Produced BBC Radio 4 documentaries including:‘From Porridge to Pergolas’ - documentary examining rehabilitation through horticulture in the prison system. ‘The Poem of the Cloak’ - documentary following Muslim women’s group as they created personal tributes to a classic Islamic poem. ‘The Centre of Our World’ - five part documentary series featuring the life of diverse community centres across Birmingham.

BBC Birmingham Radio 4 Researcher and Producer BBC Radio 4 output and Ad Hoc commissions including: ‘Ballet Behind the Borders’ - drama documentary featuring unpublished diary of former Sadler’s Wells Ballerina written during WWII European Tour. 'Let’s Dance’ - three part documentary series featuring history and personal stories about different dance styles. 'Second City Sitting’ - experimental dawn to dusk documentary with interviewees located at different seats across Birmingham City Centre. 


1999-2000

BBC Birmingham Programme Development Researcher

Generating and Developing ideas for new daytime television output including property series ’Trading Up’ and daily morning show ‘House Call’.


1999

National Space Science Centre Leicester - Freelance Research and development for new exhibits
